Holds, Volumes and Route Setting
With a SEMLEP Grant exceeding £20,000, we've invested in new holds and volumes from top manufacturers and brought in professional route setters to create exciting new challenges.
With funding from a SEMLEP Grant exceeding £20,000, The Pinnacle Climbing Centre has made a significant investment in climbing infrastructure — upgrading our holds and volumes with equipment from Flathold, Volx, Rock City, and Xpression.
Professional route setters have designed challenging new routes across the facility. Eder Lomba, a British Team Coach and accomplished climber, set routes on the barrel section reaching 8a difficulty. Will Knight collaborated with Harrison and Jack to establish bouldering problems on the steeper sections, incorporating new Flathold Macros and Xpression holds.
Something for Every Ability
Easy-graded routes feature orange and blue holds distributed throughout, while advanced challenges utilise purple Flathold Macros with dual-texture surfaces. Volumes — large structural shapes with bolted holds — allow setters to modify wall angles, create visual variety, and adjust hold difficulty.
Our in-house setting team of Cee, Harrison, and Jack continues to develop their expertise — both Cee and Harrison have received invitations to guest set at Rock City in Hull and The Castle in London. Follow us on social media for ongoing route-setting updates!
