BEGINNERS CLIMBING COURSES

The next beginners courses will be starting on:

Thursday 30th May 2013, 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Sunday 23rd June 2013, 6.00pm to 8.00pm

Tuesday 23rd July 2013, 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Each course will be on the same evening for 3 consecutive weeks. Phone now to book - (limited places available). Future course dates will be posted nearer the time, or please do call us if you need to know sooner, you may even be able to help us decide which day to run them.
3 weeks for £75.00 per person

This course is aimed at those who are new to the sport, have been away for a while or just want to brush up on the basics. It is the first step to becoming a competent climber, capable of tackling many routes indoors and outdoors, and opening up a whole new dimension in the outdoors. The course runs over 3 weeks and will cover everything you need to be able to come and use the centre unsupervised. During the course you will take an in depth look at: belaying using a variety of different devices, fitting a harness correctly, tieing into the harness safely using the correct climbing knots, effective movement whilst on the wall and safe use of the bouldering room (and much more!). By the end of the course you should feel comfortable and confident to come and use the centre anytime. In short, you'll be a climber! All courses are run by qualified instructors who are active climbers (you'll see us here all the time!) No previous experience is necessary, and all equipment is provided In the cost of the course. The minimum age for this course is 14.

LEAD CLIMBING COURSE - Phone now to book on to the next course

3 weeks for £75.00 per person

This course is aimed at those who wish to develop and open up more possabilities with their indoor climbing. It is also the next step to becoming a competent outdoor climber. The course will cover all aspects of Lead Climbing and belaying, as well as introducing some more advanced movement technique. We would reccomend that before starting on this course you are climbing at grade F5 on top rope inside. All equipment is provided In the cost of the course.

CLIMBING MOVEMENT PROGRESSION COURSE

Sunday 19th May, 6.00pm to 8.00pm

Monday 3rd June, 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Thursday 13th June, 7.30pm to 9.30pm

This course is aimed at beginners through to intermediates who are looking to improve their climbing by sharpening their technique. The course will focus on movement techniques and coaching tips to help you get the most from your climbing. Including detailed sessions on warms ups, stretches, footwork, slab climbing, steep wall technique, handholds, route reading and more. The course also includes a module on training for climbing, including tips on strength and endurance training. For anyone having just completed a beginners course, or who has been climbing for a while a reached a plateau, this really is the course to propel your climbing onward and upward!

INTRODUCTION TO CLIMBING

Anytime (Booking is advisable)

£60.00 for 2 hours instruction for 2 people.

A 2 hour session with a qualified instructor for two people. You will learn the basics of climbing safely in preparation for using the centre unsupervised. The price includes your admission, all the equipment you will both need and an instructor for 2 hours.

BOULDERING MASTERCLASS

2hr session, groups of up to 6 people. Cost - £25 per person, or £20 for pass holders

The courses will be looking at technique and movement, as well as route reading skills. It is recommended that you have done some climbing before but grade is not an issue and the course will cater for all abilities. LEAD CLIMBING MASTERCLASS

Want to improve you lead climbing skills, and start pushing your grade? Want to progress onto the competition wall, or get that project route lead? We have 2 courses coming up looking at specific lead climbing movement skills and techniques, designed to help you improve your grade.

The next block of this sessions has not been currently decided. If you are interested in booking onto one of the below session, please do get in touch with us here at the centre. You may even be ablke to help us decide the next date for the courses!

Slabs and Vert

Cost: £30 per person

This course will focus on the slabs and vertical sections of the room. There is no minimum grade requirement for the course, but you must know how to lead climb.

Steep Climbing Techniques

Cost: £30 per person

This course will be looking at movement skills and tactics specific to lead climbing, with a focus on climbing on steeper ground. There is no minimum grade requirement but to get the most out of the course it is recommended that you are capable of climbing 6a. Parts of the course will be on the competition wall.

Being a competent lead belayer is a requirement for both the courses, if you are unsure speak to one of our instructors.

"TOUCHING ROCK" INTRO TO OUTDOOR CLIMBING COURSE

Weekend of 15th/16th June. The day will commence at around 9.30am and finish sometime around 4.30pm.

Based in The Peak District or Wales, usually run during the summer months. Please contact us here at the centre if you interested in this course. 2 Days for £120

All you need to bring is yourself, a bit of food and a change of clothes. Camping or B&B are not included, but we will try to get everyone in one location for an evening social, let us know your preferences when booking.

This course is aimed at those who are new to the sport, or have done some indoor climbing and want to make the move to the great outdoors. It is the first step to becoming a competent climber, capable of tackling many routes outdoors, and opening up a whole new dimension in the exciting sport of climbing. No previous experience is necessary, and all equipment is provided In the cost of the course.

ROCKEEZ KIDS CLUB

For those young climbers aged 7 to 16 who want to work towards their NICAS levels, whether just starting out on the climbing wall or experienced climbers who have mastered the art of belaying or even lead climbing.

£80 per block.

Price includes: instructor, all equipment and centre entry. Sessions are booked in blocks of 6 weeks.

INTRODUCTION TO BOULDERING

Inductions run throughout the week at times to suit you. Contact us to check availability and book.
£15.00 per person for 1/2 hour instruction

Includes tips and hints on bouldering as well as how to boulder safely. For 1/2 hr you can find out what bouldering is all about. The price includes your admission, shoe hire and a qualified instructor.

Please note, the course must be paid for at the time of booking. Bouldering inductions may be scheduled at any time, however once one is scheduled we may add up to a total of 6 people to the group.

CLIMBING TASTER

Anytime (booking not always necessary although it is advisable)
£30 per hour for two people (£15 for every additional person) including all instruction, entry and kit hire.

If you are not sure whether you can cope with the height or just want to have a go to see what it is like, this may be the way to go. The price includes your admission, shoe hire and a qualified instructor. This course will NOT teach you how to climb independently but it will give you an idea of what is involved in climbing.

We can create bespoke courses for both indoor and outdoor climbing, for you as an individual or for your group. Ensuring that the course is tailored to your needs and requirements you can gain the most out of your climbing experience, or take your skills to the next level. Indoor climbing courses are charged at £30 per hour plus the cost of your entry and any equipment hire. Costs for outdoor climbing courses vary, please contact us to talk about how we can help you.

FIRST AID COURSE

Run subject to interest, enquire for more information

This is the first aid qualification that you will need if you are wanting to do an instructor qualification, the course also provides you with the emergency first aid at work qualification. However this is a worth whiole course to do simply if you go out climbing a lot as it will provide you with a lot of the skills that you need in order to look after yourself and others safely if you are injured at the crag or out in the hills.
